Comparison of the best mastectomy swimwear by Skarlette

Our Mastectomy swimwear:  the Skarlikini and Skarlatank VS Amoena VS Next VS Nicola Jane

A few of our customers have asked us what makes the Skarlikini and the Skarlatank different from other swimwear available for flat chested women.

So we thought we’d share with you, the limited products available for women who choose to embrace their flat chest, and still want to wear beautiful, fun and comfortable swimwear.

Why you should choose our mastectomy swimwear for flat chest women

Our brand is born out of personal experience and is Designed by Flat women, for Flat women.

  • Designed to celebrate and embrace a flat chest following double mastectomy.
  • Feels empowering, every time.
  • The measurements, seams and fabric details are designed to hug your chest like the softest embrace.

If you’ve chosen to be fabulously flat and wish to sit by the pool, swim in the river or bathe on the beach, you may have found it challenging to find just what you’re looking for.

A bikini, swimsuit or tankini that doesn’t disguise your shape (for use with prosthetics), fits properly and is comfortable, as I (Heather) have found, is VERY hard to come by!

If you’re looking for something more attractive, feminine and a little fun, then a cropped stretch tank doesn’t really fit the bill, does it?

Here are some I found to choose from:

The Shirred Bandeau Bikini Top by Next:

It has a shirred design and removable straps, it offers quite a lot of coverage and looks comfortable, albeit pouched to accommodate the shape of a breast.

The Lanzarote Non-Wire Bikini top by Amoena

Amoena have the Lanzarote Non-Wired Bikini Top, with adjustable straps and a wood-effect buckle for a unique touch.

The supportive inner bustier with bilateral pockets are there to hold prosthetic breast forms so it’s hard to see how flat this would lie too.

The Masai Mara bikini by Nicola Jane

Nicola Jane have the Masai Mara bikini with a black mesh panel to discreetly hide any scarring in the neckline and multiway, adjustable straps plus built-in support featuring pockets both sides and preformed cups, so not really for a flat chest, unless the cups can be removed?

What’s the difference between them and our Skarlette mastectomy swimmwear?

The difference with our Skarlikini and Skarlatank:

There are no preformed cups or pockets, this swim range is intentionally designed for the woman who is happy flat. The advantage of this means our designs don’t need to incorporate a large cup / pocket for the purpose of a breast form / prosthesis.

Our new category lingerie, with the flat-triangle design, has been adopted into the style of the Skarlikini and Skarlatank, and is framed with a pretty, flirty and fun frill.

We have kept the soft straps fully adjustable, and they can be tied at the neck to add shape and interest. There is no need for any heavy-duty straps, as there is no weight to support in the form of breasts or prostheses.
